The Blind Rivet Nut Swage Stud Slimline Balustrade System (System S) is a professional looking, slimline stainless wire balustrade for use with hollow steel or stainless steel anchor posts. The wire is tensioned inside the anchor posts creating a clean look. Left and right hand threaded blind rivet nuts are secured to the hollow posts using a blind rivet nut tool.

The left and right hand threaded terminal studs can be pre-swaged to wires in our factory to your exact measurements or you can hire one of our easy to use hydraulic swaging tools and swage them yourself.

Helpful Tips

System S is easy to install. All you need is a ruler, electric drill, steel drill bit, hammer, spanner and a blind rivet nut tool which you can hire from us for a moderate charge. Use a template to mark your holes. The holes should be the same diameter as the blind rivet nut (nutsert). The tube should have a minimum wall thickness of 1.5mm. Using a blind rivet hand tool secure the blind rivet nuts into the tube, taking care to fit a Right Hand Threaded nut into one anchor post and a Left Hand Threaded nut into the other. Easy to follow instructions are provided when you hire one of our Blind Rivet Hand Tools.

If you are swaging the fittings yourself, you will need to cut the stainless wire rope to the length required and hydraulically swage a LHT and RHT swage stud onto opposite ends of the wire. The swaged studs are screwed into the blind rivet nuts at each end to tension the wire.

We recommend 3.2mm 1 x 19 stainless steel wire rope which is the smoothest and strongest wire for balustrading.

The Blind Rivet Nut Swage Stud Slimline Balustrade Systemis suitable for runs up to 8 metres.

The Building Code of Australia permits wires to be spaced 80mm apart provided the distance between the intermediate posts is no greater than 2000mm.

Do not bend wire around corners. It can damage the wire, put excessive stress on the anchor posts and make it difficult to tension.

The tension of the wire can be checked by hanging a full 2lt milk container on the wire in the mid-point between the posts and measuring the deflection. If the wire deflects more than is allowed by the BCA Guidelines then it will need to be tensioned further. Be careful not to over tension the wires as this will put excessive strain on your anchor points.
