System I Stainless Balustrade Kit

Our Lag Rigging Screw Balustrade System (System I) is a professional looking and stylish stainless wire balustrade.  The stainless balustrade fittings can be pre-swaged to the wires in our factory or you can hire one of our easy to use hydraulic swaging tools and swage the stainless fittings yourself.  This DIY wire balustrade kit is suitable for timber anchor posts.

How to install System I stainless balustrade kit

Our Lag Rigging Screw Balustrade System is easy to install. All you need is a ruler, drill, drill bit, spanner and screwdriver. Follow the steps in “DIY Stainless Wire Balustrading the AAA Way” or our System I Stainless Wire Balustrading instructional video.

When installing System I stainless steel balustrade kits AAA Metal Suppliers recommends 3.2mm 1 x 19 stainless steel wire rope. This is the smoothest and strongest wire for stainless steel balustrading.

The Lag Rigging Screw Balustrade System is suitable for runs up to 10 metres.

The stainless balustrade wires can be spaced 80mm apart provided the distance between the intermediate posts is no greater than 1200mm.

Do not bend balustrade wire around corners.  It can damage the wire, put excessive stress on the anchor posts and make it difficult to tension the wire rope.

The tension of the stainless steel wire can be checked by hanging a full 2lt milk container on the wire in the mid-point between the posts and measuring the deflection. If the wire deflects more than is allowed by the BCA Guidelines then it will need to be tensioned further. Be careful not to over tension the wires as this will put excessive strain on your anchor posts.

Drill a 5mm hole to screw the lag eye screws into timber anchor posts and a 7.5mm hole to allow the swage stud to pass through the intermediate posts. If nylon grommets are to be inserted into intermediate posts a 9.0mm hole is required.

When installing System I stainless balustrade kits, use a lag eye screw to pre-cut the threads for the wood screws.

Stainless steel balustrade supplies are available from AAA Metal Suppliers' Sydney showroom and factory in Wollongong.
