Erosion Control

turf reinforcement/erosion control mat

Polypropylene Erosion Control Geomats

Turf Reinforcement/Erosion Control Geomats (TRM) are designed to reinforce vegetation and reduce erosion on steep slopes, channels and the banks of waterways, landscaping and golf courses by resisting the impact of drop run-off and soil movement. Turf Reinforcement Mats are manufactured by fusing together layers of 0.5mm UV stabilised polypropylene extruded fibres. Layers of fibres are placed above and below a single central layer to provide thickness and three-dimensionality to the TRM. Available in green or black.

Applications include steep slope protection, stormwater and irrigation channels and landscaping.

Turf Reinforcement/Erosion Control Geomats are easily installed by unrolling the roll down the slope of the prepared subsurface or embankment and securing it with steel U-pins. The U-pins ensure that the Geomat is firmly tied to the subsurface. The top of the roll is buried in a trench to prevent it from slipping on the down slope or uplift. The longitudinal edges of the rolls are overlapped about 50mm, like roofing iron. Grass seeds or tube stock are sown and covered with 30-40mm of topsoil and lightly compacted. Alternatively, spray mulch or turf can be laid. The TRM's three dimensional mesh structure reinforces the root and stem zones and provides long term erosion protection.

silt fencing

Yuan Da's stabilised woven polypropylene silt fences and floatation curtains offer long term performance and site protection. They can be used as part of erosion control systems on civil engineering and domestic projects. The silt fences high tensile capability provides a permeable barrier that traps sediment and protects water bodies from sediment run off from construction sites. The stabilised woven polypropylene is also suitable for silt traps, dredging operations and on non-vegetated slopes as a temporary erosion control measure.

geocells

Geocell_perforated

We offer a range of 3D structural geocells made from HDPE with a cell height ranging from 50 to 200 mm. Manufactured under an ISO9001 quality assurance program, the cell joints are ultrasonically spot-welded with three welds per inch uniformly spaced across the height of each strip. Seam strengths are the same across the entire height of the cell joint. Geocells can be supplied with solid or perforated walls. We can also supply a geocell for vertical installations.

Geocells are supplied as collapsed, lightweight bundles that are easily transported and handled on site. When opened during installation, they create a series of interconnected cells. Once the cells are expanded to their maximum size and filled with soil, gravel, concrete, etc, the structure becomes rigid and monolithic. This effectively confines unconsolidated materials within the cells and prevents their movement even on steep slopes, or from substantial dragging forces such as hydraulic currents. The confinement action not only prevents the erosion but improves the structural and functional behaviour of soil and aggregate infill materials, providing an alternative to hard engineering solutions such as reinforced concrete or rock armour.
